The name
If you searched “fossil fuel Wyoming” and found espresso, you’re in the right place.
Kemmerer sits in fossil country, a few miles from Fossil Butte National Monument and the Green River Formation quarries. The town was built on coal. James Cash Penney opened his first store here. We named the shop for all of that, a bone-a-fide coffee counter on the triangle, not an energy company.
Brian and Elizabeth Tresp opened Fossil Fuel Coffee Co. in 2022 in the restored building at 819 S Main. NPR later pointed at the shop as a sign that downtown was getting new life. We just wanted a place to sit with a decent cup.

What we pour
Wyoming-roasted. No fillers.
Every espresso and drip drink starts with organic fair-trade beans roasted at elevation, the same thin air Kemmerer lives in, then FedEx’d over so the bag isn’t stale when we grind it. We don’t add fillers or artificial flavorings. If a drink tastes like lavender and honey, that’s because we put lavender and honey in it.
Food is the same idea: paninis made to order, bakery from scratch, and as much as we can buy from local vendors. Come in for a Bone Head, stay because someone you know is already at the next table.

Are you an energy company?
No. Fossil Fuel Coffee Co. is a coffee shop and bakery. Kemmerer sits in fossil country, a few miles from Fossil Butte, and the town was built on coal. We named the shop for that, a bone-a-fide coffee counter, not a wellhead.
Who opened the shop?
Brian and Elizabeth Tresp opened Fossil Fuel Coffee Co. in 2022 on historic Main Street. It is still family-owned. The bakery is part of the same operation, baking from scratch every morning.
Where do the beans come from?
Organic fair-trade beans, roasted above 6,000 feet in Cheyenne and shipped the same day. We do not roast in Kemmerer and we do not add fillers or fake flavorings. If a drink tastes like lavender and honey, that is what we put in it.
